MacDowall Bog, South of MacDowall
02-July-2020
This species is usually dioecious, with either a purely staminate spike or a purely pistillate spike. However, occasionally the staminate spike can have 1-2 pistillate flowers at the base. This specimen has one pistillate flower at the base. Note there is only one (terminal) spike and no spike bracts. Each pistillate flower has two stigmas.
