Carex pellita
(Woolly Sedge)

C. pellita and C. lasiocarpa are
closely related species. Plant A was growing in a ditch along a
campground roadway in the parklands of Saskatchewan and is clearly C. pellita.
Plant B was growing in a ditch along a trail
in the mixed forest alongside a patch of conifers. Although the leaf width
of Plant B is smaller than that of Plant A and is closer in size to C. lasiocarpa, I believe
Plant B is also
C. pellita. See here for
a discussion.
