Note the sticky droplet produced by a gland at the apex of each multi-cellular hair (the droplet has been rubbed off from some of the hairs in this specimen).

Flora of North America states that D. rotundifolia is found on sphagnum hummocks, D. anglica is found more often around bases of hummocks and on fen margins, and D. linearis is found on open marl.
