The initially deflexed style has become erect and the four stigma lobes unfolded and recurved after anther dehiscence.
Budd's Flora and Flora of Alberta refer to this species as Epilopium angustifolium, and that is the name for this species used in the notes below.
Flora of Alberta separates this species into two subspecies according to the following:
ssp. angustifolium: leaves 2.5-15.0 (17.0) cm long, (3) 10-30 mm wide, the midrib of the lower leaf surface glabrous | |
ssp. circumvagum: leaves 5-18 (22) cm long, (5) 20-50 mm wide, the midrib of the lower leaf-surface glabrous or densely strigillose |
However, the ranges of the leaf lengths and widths overlap so much that I find the distinction non-useful. The maximum leaf lengths and widths of the specimen photographed on velvet on this site are 10.7 cm and 28 mm respectively.
