The flowers are closed, whereas the flowers of P. aviculare are closed or semi-open. The perianth tube is 40-55% of perianth length, whereas in P. aviculare the perianth tube is 20-57% of perianth length. The tepals are yellow-green (only rarely pinkish), whereas the tepals of P. aviculare are green or reddish brown with white, pink, or red margins.  The tepals are more or less keeled, whereas the tepals of P. aviculare are not keeled.
