The flowers are closed, whereas the flowers of P. aviculare are closed or semi-open. However, the tepals of this flower (particularly the near one) have been manually pulled outward to reveal the interior.
The perianth tube is 40-55% of perianth length, whereas in P. aviculare the perianth tube is 20-57% of perianth length. The tepals are yellow-green (only rarely pinkish), whereas the tepals of P. aviculare are green or reddish brown with white, pink, or red margins.
