Anemone canadensis
Canada Anemone
Carpel from Mature Flower
Good Spirit Lake Provincial Park
19-July-08
Note the carpel is pubescent but not densely woolly. Note also that Budd's Flora requires styles not hooked in order to distinguish A. canadensis from A. narcissiflora. The style in this specimen is slightly hooked, but the styles of A. canadensis straighten as they mature. A. narcissiflora is an alpine species which is very rare even in Alberta.
