The calyx is tubular, terminated by two lateral lobes. The corolla is two-lipped. The lower lip terminates in three lobes. The distal portion of the upper lip forms a hood, called a galea, which encloses the stamens and style. There is a slit in the bottom of this structure to provide access to pollinators. This slit is closed in this specimen.
