The inflorescence is comprised of one or two terminal spike-like racemes. Plants growing above the water line (such as this one) tend to produce short- to elongate-cylindric racemes 40-110 (150) mm long, while plants growing in standing water tend to produce ovoid-conic to short-cylindric racemes 10-40 (60) mm long.
